We’re pleased to announce our newest addition to the DTA team, Joe Herron! Joe is an experienced healthcare data architect that some of us had the pleasure to work with at Allina Health several years ago (and some of us had to give up our cubicle to him during our last week at Allina and will never forgive him for that and are currently plotting our sweet revenge but don’t tell him and hopefully he doesn’t read this and also his last name isn’t pronounced like the bird and I guess for that matter his first name isn’t pronounced like a bird either). Welcome Joe!
DTA: Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? Where do you live now? Any hobbies?
Joe: I’m originally from Minneapolis and made the long, arduous journey across the Mississippi River to settle in Saint Paul. I was born in Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health, where I later (much later) worked as a data architect with the fine folks that would go on to form DTA Healthcare Solutions In my spare time, I enjoy surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding, rock climbing and photography.
DTA: We weren’t aware that Minnesota was known for its surfing.
Joe: Neither was I! But all waves are formed by wind and with a big enough body of water and a close eye to the forecast, you can sometimes get lucky.
DTA: Why healthcare data and analytics consulting?
Joe: You can’t improve what you don’t measure, and it’s hard to think of something more important than improving healthcare delivery. The vast amount of healthcare data available to collect provides plenty of ways to measure improvement, and the creative possibilities are what excite me.
DTA: Anything else you want our vast blog following to know?
Joe: I have an unpaid intern (my 50-pound Black Lab mix) but he is often found sleeping on the job or staring out the window.
